2093340 9302772 PCTABS00019 A method of dry scrubbing process exhaust gases containing fluorides comprising bringing the fluoride containing gas into contact with particles of a material selected from aluminium hydroxide, rehydrated smelter grade alumina and/or partially calcined gibbsite, whereby the fluoride component of the exhaust gas chemically reacts with the particles to form aluminium fluoride, and collecting the aluminium fluoride particles for subsequent use.
