A system and device for sculpturing a laser beam along a laser axis to a target upon command using a device (17) between the laser source (11) and the target (23) The device includes an adjustable iris aperture (19) perpendicular to the axis. A controller adjusts the aperture and the door to sculpture the laser beam in a predetermined pattern. The controller also controls the laser to direct a laser beam on a target in the predetermined pattern which may be pulsed, the duration and intensity of the pulses being controlled by the controller. An encoder (41,49) locates the iris and the door with respect to the axis for comparison of the positions with the predetermined pattern period. The device is rotatable in clockwise and counterclockwise directions by at least 180 degrees. A computer (27) is preferably used to control the positions of the iris and the door means.
Système et dispositif pour sculpter sur commande un faisceau laser le long d'un axe de laser jusqu'à une cible, à l'aide d'un dispositif (17) placé entre la source laser (11) et la cible (23). Ledit dispositif comporte une ouverture (19) d'iris réglable perpendiculaire à l'axe. Une unité de commande règle l'ouverture et la porte pour sculpter le faisceau laser selon une forme prédéterminée. Cette unité de commande commande également le laser pour diriger sur une cible un faisceau laser de forme prédéterminée, qui peut être pulsée, la durée et l'intensité des impulsions étant commandées par l'unité de commande. Un codeur (41, 49) localise l'iris et la porte par rapport à l'axe pour comparer leurs positions avec la période de la forme prédéterminée. Le dispositif est rotatif dans le sens des aiguilles d'une montre et dans le sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre sur au moins 180 degrés. Un ordinateur (27) est de préférence utilisé pour commander les positions de l'iris et des éléments de porte.
