A method for allocating resources in a wireless communications environment comprises receiving a mapping between a first hop-port and frequency range, and determining whether to map a second access terminal to a second hop-port that is mapped to at least the same frequency range during a substantially similar instance in time, the determination made as a function of characteristics relating to a first access terminal associated with the first hop-port. The method can further include determining that the first access terminal is a candidate for employing Space-Division Multiple Access (SDMA), and mapping the second-hop port and associating the second access terminal with the second hop-port when the second access terminal is also a candidate for employing SDMA.

Un procédé d'affectation de ressources dans un environnement de communications sans fil consiste à recevoir un mappage effectué entre un premier port de saut et une plage de fréquence et à déterminer s'il faut mapper un deuxième terminal d'accès sur un deuxième port de saut qui est mappé sur au moins la même plage de fréquence pendant une instance sensiblement similaire dans le temps, la détermination étant réalisée en fonction de caractéristiques relatives au premier terminal d accès associé au premier port de saut. Le procédé peut également consister à déterminer que le premier terminal d'accès est un candidat pour utiliser l'accès multiple par répartition spatiale (AMRS) et à mapper le deuxième port de saut puis à associer le deuxième terminal d'accès au deuxième port de saut lorsque le deuxième terminal d'accès est également un candidat pour utiliser AMRS.
