The survival of life at sea in a man overboard or abandonment situation is largely dependant on the searcher being able to quickly locate and identify survivors and survival craft in the water. The sea cape is a special fabric that spreads out on the water astern of the individual units and is constructed in such a way as to provide a much greater visible target and a radar target that can be easily identified as artificial. Alternating panels of contrasting colours layered over alternating panels of radar absorptive and radar reflecting panels all together in a thin positive buoyancy fabric will allow positive identification in the zero to eight mile surface search range and not be greatly affected by sea conditions. Airborne searchers will have a five hundred to one thousand percent bigger target to search for.
