A through-air drying apparatus includes at least one permeable cylinder about which a paper web is carried on a drying fabric, at least first and second fabric support rolls or members for guiding the fabric about the cylinder, and a hood and plenum that cooperate to form a substantially sealed enclosure about the cylinder. The first fabric support member adjacent an upstream end of the apparatus forms a seal with the hood, and the second fabric support member adjacent a downstream end of the apparatus also forms a seal with the hood. The plenum forms a seal with each of the first and second fabric support members. The seal between the plenum and at least one of the fabric support members is formed by the plenum sealingly engaging the drying fabric wrapped about the support member.

L'invention concerne un appareil de séchage par air traversant comprenant au moins un cylindre perméable autour duquel une bande de papier est transportée sur une toile de séchage, au moins un premier et un second rouleaux ou éléments de support de toile qui guident la toile autour du cylindre, ainsi qu'une hotte et un plénum qui coopèrent pour former une enceinte sensiblement étanche autour du cylindre.
