ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A seal for civil engineering works such as industrial basins, tubs, industrial floors, or the like with a sealing layer cemented to a solid structural sublayer such as concrete with a fine layer, made of plate-like elements of corrosion-resistant metals, with the seams of adjoining elements being made with expansion areas and being tightly connected together continuously and possibly having tubular test lines for monitoring leaks in the expansion area. The expansion areas of the plate-shaped elements formed at seams and lengthwise seams being made differently and by at least crosswise seams being laid in element plane and corresponding expansion area below the element plane and lengthwise seams and crosswise seams being welded under a protective gas. In the expansion areas formed by edge strips of elements bent upward or downward, there are perforated test lines or, in the lengthwise seams disposed in the element plane below the element plane, there is a strip with a hat-shaped cross section abutting elements with a middle rib and covering lengthwise seam. The strip is made of corrosion-resistant material with two mutually parallel lengthwise grooves formed on middle rib, forming test lines.
