The invention reduces the wear of contact surfaces between a seal and an interior opening of a high-pressure container. The seal has a support ring for supporting a sleeve which surrounds and provides a high-pressure sealing function for a moveable part in the container opening. The seal further has a pressing ring which presses against the support ring and the sleeve due to the high pressure force within the container. The contact surfaces of the various parts of the seal and the interior surface of the container opening wear over time with repeated compression. To extend the service life of the seal, the interior surface of the container opening and/or the exterior surface of the support ring have at least one coating applied according to physical vapour deposition, and/or chemical vapour deposition which can include plasma-assisted chemical vapour deposition.
