Patent

CA 2352591

A seal structure in an engine, including a seal member interposed between a cylinder head having a slant at least at an intermediate portion of its upper end face to which a valve-operating cam chamber opens, and a head cover coupled to the upper end face of the cylinder head by a bolt to close the valve-operating cam chamber. The head cover has a fit wall portion formed thereon and fitted to an inner peripheral surface of the valve-operating cam chamber, and the seal member is mounted in a seal groove provided in an outer peripheral surface of the fit wall portion to come into close contact with an inner peripheral surface of the cylinder head. Thus, an interference can be provided equally at various portions of the seal member irrespective of the number of bolts used, and the seal member can always exhibit a good seal function.
