A sealing system (10) for sealing a tubular conduit is described. The sealing system includes a housing (16), with at least one annular seal (22, 24) surrounding the outer surface of the housing. The sealing system further includes at least one seal back-up (26, 25) mounted on the housing outer surface, adjacent the at least one annular seal. The at least one seal back-up has an anchor surface for engaging with the tubular conduit. Seal and anchor energising means are also provided for urging the annular seal and the anchor surface into contact with the tubular conduit in response to an actuation force. Once energised, a first portion of the annular seal forms a contact seal with the tubular conduit and a second portion of the annular seal presses the anchor surface to maintain contact between the anchor surface and the tubular conduit. In the described embodiment, the sealing system comprises two annular seals each having a seal back-up and each being energised by means of a respective set of beam springs pressing into the back of the annular seal.
L'invention concerne un système d'étanchéité (10) qui permet d'assurer l'étanchéité d'une conduite tubulaire. Le système d'étanchéité de l'invention comprend une enveloppe (16), au moins un joint d'étanchéité annulaire (22, 24) entourant la surface extérieure de l'enveloppe. Le système d'étanchéité comprend en outre au moins un renfort d'étanchéité (26, 25) monté sur la surface extérieure de l'enveloppe, adjacent au joint d'étanchéité annulaire précité. Le renfort d'étanchéité précité comporte une surface d'ancrage destinée à entrer en contact avec la conduite tubulaire. Des moyens d'activation du joint d'étanchéité et de l'ancrage permettent de pousser le joint d'étanchéité annulaire et la surface d'ancrage en contact avec la conduite tubulaire en réponse à une force d'actionnement. Une fois activée, une première partie du joint d'étanchéité annulaire forme un joint d'étanchéité par contact avec la conduite tubulaire et une seconde partie du joint d'étanchéité annulaire comprime la surface d'ancrage afin de maintenir le contact entre la surface d'ancrage et la conduite tubulaire. Dans le mode de réalisation décrit, le système d'étanchéité comprend deux joints d'étanchéité annulaires comportant chacun un renfort d'étanchéité et étant chacun activé à l'aide d'un ensemble respectif de ressorts en porte-à-faux comprimant le dos du joint d'étanchéité annulaire.
