Polyethylene films having a combination of high melt strength, high toughness and excellent sealing characteristics through a broad range of sealing temperatures are made from a polyethylene resin having a combination of low hexane extractables and a quasi homogeneous comonomer distribution. The polyethylene resins used in this invention are polymerized in a dual reactor solution polymerization process using a Ziegler Natta catalyst system. The film is particularly suitable for the preparation of high performance food packaging. Moreover, the plastic film of this invention is easily processed in comparison to films made from other types of high performance polyethylene resins.
