A sealed collet having improved radial flexibility is provided for facilitating removal from a locknut of a chuck assembly. The sealed collet includes a collet body formed from a tubular configuration of elongated gripping fingers separated by elongated slots which render the body radially resilient in response to pressure applied by a locknut. The slots are filled with a bonding agent, which may be a silicon rubber compound, for preventing dirt and debris from entering the collet slots and for preventing pressurized coolant intended to flow through a bore in a tool shank from flowing through the walls of the collet body. To increase the radial compressibility of the collet, agent-free gaps are provided in the slots immediately behind a distal portion of the collet body. In the preferred embodiment, the length of the agent-free gap is between 20 % and 30 % of the overall length of its respective slot. The location of the gaps immediately behind the distal end of the collet body advantageously increases the radial compressibility of the collet while allowing the bonding agent in the slots to continue to prevent debris from entering the collet.

L'invention concerne une pince de serrage hermétique ayant une flexibilité radiale améliorée, qui facilite son extraction d'un contre-écrou faisant partie d'un ensemble de mandrins. La pince comprend un corps de pince formé à partir d'une configuration tubulaire comprenant des doigts de préhension allongés, séparés par des fentes allongées, qui rendent le corps radialement résilient en réponse à une pression exercée par un contre-écrou. Les fentes sont remplies d'un liant, tel qu'un composé de caoutchouc silicone, qui empêche d'une part la saleté et les débris de pénétrer dans lesdites fentes, et d'autre part le produit réfrigérant sous pression, conçu pour traverser un alésage creusé dans la queue de l'outil, de traverser les parois du corps de la pince. Afin d'augmenter la compressibilité radiale de cette dernière, des espaces sont laissés sans liant dans les fentes, juste derrière une partie distale du corps. Dans le mode de réalisation préféré, la longueur dudit espace est comprise entre 20 et 30 % de la longueur totale de la fente correspondante. La disposition des espaces juste derrière l'extrémité distale du corps de la pince augmente avantageusement la compressibilité radiale de cette dernière, tout en permettant au liant disposé dans les fentes d'empêcher la saleté de pénétrer dans la pince.
