The method provides that a lining tube impregnated with synthetic resin is applied to the inner surface of a pipeline or passageway to line same. A pre-lining tube is either connected to the leading end of the lining tube so that the lining tube can be inserted by everting the pre-lining tube into the pipeline or passageway which pulls the lining tube into position, or the lining tube is connected at its trailing end to an inflation tube which is pulled into position as the lining tube enters the pipeline or passageway and subsequently the inflation tube is everted into the inside of the lining tube to inflate same. In the preferred case the assembly comprises a pre-lining tube connected at the leading end to the lining tube, and an inflation tube connected at the trailing end of the lining tube.
