The present invention relates to a sealing arrangement between a rotary drum and the stationary end thereof arranged in a material flow in relation to each other. In particular, the invention relates to a sealing between a rotary drum kiln and the feed end thereof, whereby pressurized gas, such as air, is fed to the connecting point of the two in such a way that the angle .alpha. between the feeding direction of the gas and the plane substantially perpendicular to the center axis of the rotary drum is 90~ or less. The air flow is directed to the sealing in such a way that it prevents leaking of process gas and solid matter dust from the connecting point of the rotary drum and the feed chamber and that as little air as possible is directed out to the surroundings. Due to the gas flow, the stationary surface and the moving surface do not rub together.
L'invention concerne un dispositif d'étanchéité situé entre un tambour rotatif et l'extrémité fixe dudit tambour, qui communiquent l'un avec l'autre afin d'assurer un écoulement de matériau. Elle concerne, en particulier, une étanchéité entre un séchoir à tambour rotatif et l'extrémité d'alimentation dudit tambour, réalisée sous l'effet d'un gaz sous pression, tel que de l'air, alimentant le point de contact des deux, de sorte que l'angle .alpha. entre le sens d'alimentation du gaz et le plan sensiblement perpendiculaire de l'axe médian du tambour rotatif est égal ou inférieur à 90·. On dirige cet écoulement d'air vers l'étanchéité de façon à empêcher la fuite du gaz de traitement rotatif et de la chambre d'alimentation et à diriger le moins d'air possible vers l'extérieur. L'écoulement de gaz permet d'éliminer la friction entre la surface fixe et la surface mobile.
