The invention relates to a sealing assembly for the cross member 4 of a universal joint 1, which cross member 4 is non-rotatingly connected to the arm 5 and, for this purpose, rest on a seat face 15. The seal 16 comprises two portions 17, 28 of which the first portion 17, by means of an annular recess 21, is divided into a sealing portion 18 and a fixing portion 22. The second portion 28 embraces the open end face 12 of the bearing bush 8 and, by means of a sealing lip 30, rests on the outer face 29 of the bearing bush 8. This measure makes it possible for the pretension for fixing the seal 16 on the arm 5 and the pretension of the sealing lips 19 relative to the sealing face 20 to be determined independently of one another.
