A sealing device, for use in a mailing machine having a moistener for applying moistening fluid to flaps of envelopes being transported through the mailing machine, includes a first device, having a first surface, for applying pressure to a moistened envelope flap via the first surface; and a second device, having a second surface opposite the first surface, for applying pressure to themoistened envelope flap via the second surface. The first and second surfaces operatively cooperate together to apply pressure to and seal the moistened envelope flap. Furthermore, in the inventive device, moistening fluid is transferred on to the first surface from the moistened flap during sealing of the moistened flap by the first and second surfaces, and the first and second surfaces are aligned relative to each other such that at times when the moistened envelope is transported away from the sealing device moistening fluid is not transferred from the first surface to the second surface.
L'invention porte sur un dispositif de cachetage à utiliser dans une machine à cacheter. La machine comporte un mouilleur qui applique un liquide de mouillage aux rabats des enveloppes qu'elle transporte. Le dispositif de cachetage comprend un premier élément ayant une première surface avec laquelle ce dernier applique une pression sur le rabat humide de l'enveloppe, et un second élément ayant une seconde surface, opposée à la première, avec laquelle ce dernier applique également une pression sur le rabat humide de l'enveloppe. Les première et seconde surfaces fonctionnent ensemble pour appliquer une pression sur le rabat humide d'une enveloppe et pour cacheter cette dernière. De plus, le rabat humide transfert du liquide de mouillage sur la première surface pendant le cachetage effectué par les première et seconde surfaces. Par conséquent, les surfaces sont alignées l'une par rapport à l'autre d'une telle manière que, lorsque l'enveloppe humide est transportée à l'extérieur du dispositif de cachetage, le liquide de mouillage sur la première surface n'est pas transféré à la seconde surface.
