A sealing gasket (1) for inhibiting water penetration of a wall opening traversed by a water pipe, tap body or similar. The gasket has a plate-like body with a plurality of sealing ribs (7, 8) which abut an outer surface of the wall. The gasket is compressed and secured under a tap cover, tap flange or similar.
