An elastomer may be used to construct a separate, moldable part that engages the edge of a membrane electrode assembly (MEA) to thereby seal the MEA. The seal has a groove defining two sealing portions separated by a web portion. The groove of the seal then engages the edge of the MEA and can maintain a tight fit without the need for additional adhesives. Additional features may extend laterally from the web portion to assist in separating cathode and anode plates and/or encompass, for example, manifold openings.
Selon l'invention, un élastomère peut être utilisé en vue de construire une partie moulable, séparée, se mettant en prise avec le bord d'un ensemble d'électrodes à membrane (MEA) afin de sceller ce MEA. Le scellement possède une rainure définissant deux parties de scellement séparées par une partie de bande. La rainure de scellement se met ensuite en prise avec le bord du MEA et peut conserver un ajustement serré sans nécessiter d'adhésifs supplémentaires. Les caractéristiques supplémentaires peuvent s'étendre latéralement à partir de la partie de bande afin de faciliter la séparation des plaques cathodiques et anodiques et/ou afin de comprendre, par exemple des ouvertures de collecte.
