A sealing assembly comprises a first molded graphite ring (11) of generally triangular cross section, one side of which is in use perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of a rotatable and/or slidable shaft (1), the surface of which is to be sealed in an axial direction against fluid leakage therealong, and a second side which is in use disposed parallel to said shaft to engage the inner wall of a housing (4) surrounding said shaft (1), a second moulded graphite (13) ring of generally triangular cross section and of generally similar dimensions to the first moulded ring (11), said second ring (13) being in use installed in inverted relation to the first ring to define therebetwen an axially extending void around said shaft together with a third moulded graphite ring (12) having a triangular cross section and installed between said first and second rings (11, 13) to substantially completely fill said void prior to the application of axial pressure to said rings to develop a sealing force between the inner wall of said housing (4) and said shaft (1).
L'invention concerne un ensemble d'étanchéification comprenant un premier anneau (11) de graphite moulé, possédant une section transversale généralement triangulaire, dont un côté est, lors de l'utilisation, perpendiculaire à l'axe longitudinal d'un arbre (1) rotatif et/ou coulissant, la surface de cet arbre devant être étanchéifiée, dans une direction axiale pour empêcher les fuites de fluide le long de l'arbre. Un deuxième côté est, lors de l'utilisation, disposé parallèlement à l'arbre en vue d'entrer en contact avec la paroi interne d'un logement (4) entourant l'arbre (1). Ledit ensemble comprend également un deuxième anneau (13) en graphite moulé, possédant une section transversale généralement triangulaire, et généralement de dimensions similaires à celles du premier anneau (11) de graphite moulé. Ce deuxième anneau (13) est installé, lors de l'utilisation, en sens inverse au rapport au premier anneau, définissant entre eux un vide qui s'étend dans le sens de l'axe et qui entoure l'arbre en question. L'ensemble comprend, par ailleurs, un troisième anneau (12) en graphite moulé, comportant une section transversale triangulaire et installé entre lesdits premier et deuxième anneaux (11, 13), en vue de remplir sensiblement en entier ledit vide, avant l'application de pression axiale sur les anneaux en question afin de développer une force d'étanchéité entre la paroi interne dudit logement (4) et l'arbre (1) en question.
