F-5318-L ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Reusable seamless thermoplastic bags having a thickened reinforced upper edge and a body portion of substantially uniform thickness. An apparatus and method for making such a bag has a continuous web of thermoplastic film fed to a device which thermoforms the bag while maintaining the edge of the bag at a thickness substantially equal to the thickness of the film being provided, while forming a seamless bag having a uniform thickness. A circular, hollow clamp secures the edge of the bag while the bag is being formed. The bag being formed extends through the area defined by a circular radiant heating element which is positioned adjacent to and concentric with the clamp. Cooling fans are provided adjacent to the heating element to cool the bag after it is formed.
