A method for providing a seamless transition between video play-back modes includes decoding a current video picture, determining a time value corresponding to the current video picture, and storing the time value in memory. When rereceiving a request for trick mode operation the first picture to be decoded is identified by using information from a video decoder. One information delivered by the decoder is a time value associated with the first picture. Systems and other methods for providing a seamless transition between video play-back modes are also disclosed.

L'invention concerne un procédé assurant une transition sans coupure entre des modes de lecture vidéo. Le procédé consiste à: décoder une image vidéo courante; déterminer une valeur temporelle correspondant à l'image vidéo courante; et enregistrer la valeur temporelle en mémoire. Lorsqu'elle reçoit une demande pour une opération en mode astuce, la première image à décoder est identifiée grâce à des données provenant d'un décodeur vidéo. Une donnée fournie par le décodeur est une valeur temporelle associée à la première image. On décrit également des systèmes et d'autres procédés assurant une transition sans coupure entre des modes de lecture vidéo.
