ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method and apparatus is disclosed for the production of seamless tubes. An ingot heated to the rolling temperature is pierced in a skew-rolling mill to form a hollow ingot which is then stretched into a tube bloom and rolled out into a finished tube. According to the invention, the stretching takes place immediately after piercing during the same heat, wherein the rolled goods is stretched in the same skew-rolling stand, but in a direction opposite to the direction of the piercing. The operation is simpler, technically better and more economical when compared with prior art. The process can be carried out with relatively low investment costs.
