A seat belt adapter provides a first member releasably engaging a second member to position a chest belt and a lap belt of a conventional three-point seat belt above and below, respectively, the abdomen of a pregnant woman traveling in a motor vehicle, thereby reducing the risk of injury to the pregnant woman and the fetus in the event of an impact situation or a sudden braking situation.
