SEAT BELT SECURING DEVICE Abstract of the Disclosure A seat belt securing device is mounted on the body at one side of the occupant seating position to capture a seat belt mounted on the body at the opposite side of the seating position. The securing device includes a C-shaped hook member having upper and lower legs spaced apart to define a belt re- ceiving slot having an open end. The hook member is mounted on a bracket of the vehicle body by a pivot which is arranged so that belt force applied against the upper leg of the hook member maintains the hook member in a downwardly directed belt captur- ing position. An abutment lip extends downwardly from the upper leg toward the lower leg to partially close the open end of the slot, thereby retaining the belt in the slot. A gate member is pivotally mounted on the mounting bracket and is spring biased against the abutment lip to normally close the slot and yields to permit entry of the belt into the slot. The hook member is manually pivotal to an upwardly directed belt releasing position in which the abutment lip is moved away from the gate member to release the belt from engagement over the upper leg.
