ABSTRACT A seating unit having at least two seats comprises, a frame having a sufficient width to accommodate at least two seat areas arranged side by side one another, a spring assembly for each seat area, said spring assemblies being mounted on said frame and arranged one in each seat area, said spring assemblies being free of attachment to one another so as to be movable independently of one another whereby seat loading is not transferred from one to the other in use, a deck mounted on said frame, said deck being adapted to provide an independently movable deck portions overlying each spring assembly, said independently movable deck portions being movable independently of one another of the full range of movement of said spring assemblies whereby the load applied to one deck portion in use is not transferred to any of the other deck portions.
