The invention relates to a method for the gel-phase or surface secondary cross- linking of water-absorbent polymers, characterized in that the polymer is treated with a solution for surface secondary cross-linking, during or after treatment undergoes secondary cross-linking by temperature elevation and is then dried. Dissolved in an inert solvent the cross-linking agent contains a compound of formula (I), where R1 and R2 independently of each other are H, hydroxy, phenyl or C1-C6-alkyl, R3 is hydrogen, C1-C12-alkyl, C1-C12-alkenyl or C6-C12-aryl and R4 and R5 independently of each other are C1-C12-alkyl, C1- C12-alkenyl, C6-C12-aryl, hydroxy, C1-C12-alkoxy or hydrogen. The invention also relates to water-absorbent polymers obtained according to the above method, and to their use in hygiene articles, packaging materials and non- woven materials.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour la post-réticulation en phase gel ou en surface de polymères hydroabsorbants, caractérisé en ce que le polymère est traité avec une solution de post-réticulation en surface et, pendant ou après ce traitement, subit une post-réticulation par élévation de température et est séché. Le réticulant contient, dissous dans un solvant inerte, un composé de la formule (I), dans laquelle R?1¿ et R?2¿ représentent, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, H, hydroxy, phényle ou bien alkyle C¿1?-C¿6?, R?3¿ représente hydrogène, alkyle C¿1?-C¿12?, alcényle C¿1?-C¿12? ou bien aryle C¿6?-C¿12?, et R?4¿ et R?5¿ représentent, indépendamment l'un de l'autre, alkyle C¿1?-C¿12?, alcényle C¿1?-C¿12?, aryle C¿6?-C¿12?, hydroxy, alcoxy C¿1?-C¿12? ou bien hydrogène. L'invention concerne également les polymères hydroabsorbants obtenus grâce au procédé précité, et leur utilisation dans des produits d'hygiène, des matériaux d'emballage et des non-tissés.
