ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method for increasing the production of fluids from a subterranean fluid-bearing formation containing acid- soluble components which comprises injecting into said formation an aqueous acid solution comprising (a) from 0.5 to 28% by weight of a non-oxidizing mineral acid or from 0.01 to 5% by weight of carbon dioxide, and (b) from 0.005 to 2% by weight of at least one sulfonated anti-scale compound of the formula Image wherein A+ is an alkali metal or ammonium ion, and in which R1 and R2 which may be the same or different, are each a saturated or unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon group containing up to 20 carbon atoms, the total number of carbon atoms in R1 and R2 being from 9 to 30.
