The present invention provides a system whereby businesses, including professional List Providers, can register their customer or client lists, or prospect lists, with a central Secure Data Exchange, to thereby become part of the central main client/customer list. Such businesses, which are therefore List Owners, by definition, can also have access, on a selective and screened basis, to records from the central main client/customer list. In this manner, such List Owners also become List Users. Access can also be had to the central main client/customer list by business who are not List Owners, but who are therefore, by definition, List Users.
