An improved secure lamp base includes a slot having a bottom channel, and a groove formed on a projection of the base. A pair of conductive slices are provided with inner ends each shaped as hooks having two sideways tips. The hook of one of the pair of conductive slices may be inserted into the channel and the other hook may be engaged with the groove, such that firm engagement between the conductive slices and the base is obtained. This firm engagement facilitates a stable electrical connection when the base receives a lamp from an open side thereof.
