The present invention provides a system for the authentication by a card- issuing financial institution of identifying information of a card-holding user of a public data network, including: a secure data entry device connected to the public data network; and a gateway device connected to the public data network and to a private data network used for transmitting messages between financial institutions; wherein the secure data entry device includes means for the user to enter identifying information of a card issued by the card issuing financial institution, and means for transmitting the identifying information in a secure manner over the public data network to the gateway device; and wherein the gateway device includes means for transmitting the identifying information to the card-issuing financial institution and for receiving an approval response from the card-issuing financial institution over the private data network; whereby the approval response provides authentication of the identifying information by the card-issuing financial institution.
La présente invention se rapporte à un système permettant l'authentification, par un établissement financier émetteur de carte, d'informations d'identification liées à un utilisateur titulaire de carte d'un réseau de données public. Le système selon l'invention comprend : un dispositif d'entrée de données sécurisé, connecté au réseau de données public ; et un dispositif passerelle, connecté au réseau de données public et à un réseau de données privé servant à transmettre des messages entre des établissement financiers. Le dispositif d'entrée de données sécurisé possède des moyens permettant à l'utilisateur d'entrer des informations d'identification liées à une carte émise par l'établissement financier émetteur, et des moyens permettant de transmettre lesdites informations d'identification au dispositif passerelle, de manière sécurisée, par l'intermédiaire du réseau de données public. Le dispositif passerelle possède des moyens permettant de transmettre les informations d'identification à l'établissement financier émetteur, et de recevoir une réponse d'approbation de l'établissement financier émetteur, par l'intermédiaire du réseau de données privé, ladite réponse d'approbation fournissant l'authentification des informations d'identification par l'établissement financier émetteur.
