The invention relates to a securing device for a loading system in a cargo compartment of an aircraft. The securing device comprises at least one securing catch (29) arranged in the region of a cargo compartment door, a control mechanism (1) and an activation member, in particular a foot pedal. According to the invention, in a secured position the securing catch (29) or the securing catches, project above a cargo compartment plane (30) so as to prevent the freight units situated on the loading system from rolling out from the cargo compartment door, and in a loading position the securing catch (29), of which there is at least one, can be swung beneath the cargo compartment plane (30) so as to make it possible for the freight units to be rolled out, wherein by means of the control mechanism (1) the securing catch (29), of which there is at least one, can alternately be placed by activating the foot pedal so as to be locked either in the secured position or in the loading position. By means of the control mechanism (1) , the securing device according to the invention makes it possible in a simple manner by means of repeated foot activation to switch between the loading position and the securing position of the securing catch (29), of which there is at least one. Hereby, the simple design without the use of cable pull arrangements and without the use of electrical or hydraulic components makes possible reliable operation of the securing device under all imaginable specified operating states in the cargo compartment.
