ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A security bar assembly for an opening defined between a pair of window jambs or other members includes an elongate bar which can be positioned to extend across the opening, and a pair of socket connector assemblies having a socket opening and which can be secured to the opening-defining members, respec- tively, by means of a screw or other fastening accessible only through the socket opening. Spring loaded connection means, for example spring-loaded pins retractable within one end of the bar, are provided between one or both bar ends and the socket assemblies, for locking one or both bar ends to the socket assemblies. The security bar assembly can be fitted to existing windows or other openings and has no visible screws, rivets or other fastening means so that entry can be gained only by forcing the security bar.
