A portable security container or lock box has an internal alarm. The alarm is armed by an on/off switch and a set-reset switch. When the alarm is armed and the container is moved, the alarm is triggered. A time delay built into the alarm allows the user sufficient time to activate the alarm, close and lock the box before the alarm is armed. A second timer allows the authorized opening of the lock and the disarming of the alarm.
