ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A security deposit system comprises a safe having one-way access door to permit the deposit therein by a customer of a package containing valuables and a normal access door to permit removal by authorized personnel of the contents of the safe, a device for accepting entry of a unique customer identification code, a device for detection of the insertion of a package through the one-way access door, a master recording medium for storing information relating to each deposit, and a device for recording data representing the detection of the insertion of said package in association with said customer identification code on the master recording medium. The insertion of each package is correlated with a customer identification code to permit verification of customer deposits.
