A security device comprises a substrate (1) having a viewing region (2). A first pattern (3) of a first colour (A) and a second pattern (4) of a second colour (B) are printed on one side of the viewing region (2). A third pattern (5) of the first colour (A) and a fourth pattern (6) of the second colour (B) are printed on the other side of the viewing region (2). The first and second patterns (3,4) on the one side of the viewing region overlap the fourth and third patterns (6,5) respectively on the other side of the viewing region whereby a) when each side of the viewing region is viewed in reflected light, the patterns on that side can be distinguished by at least their colours, and b) when the viewing region is viewed in transmitted light, from either side of the substrate, the viewing region is sufficiently transparent that subtractive colour mixing between the overlapped different colours results in a perceived single resultant colour being visible.
L'invention concerne un dispositif de sécurité qui comprend un substrat (1) présentant une région de visualisation (2). Un premier motif (3) d'une première couleur (A) et un deuxième motif (4) d'une deuxième couleur (B) sont imprimés sur un côté de la région de visualisation (2). Un troisième motif (5) de la première couleur (A) et un quatrième motif (6) de la deuxième couleur (B) sont imprimés sur l'autre côté de la région de visualisation (2). Les premier et deuxième motifs (3, 4) sur un côté de la région de visualisation chevauchent respectivement les quatrième et troisième motifs (6, 5) sur l'autre côté de la région de visualisation, ce qui implique que : a) lorsque chaque côté de la région de visualisation est vu à la lumière réfléchie, les motifs sur ledit côté peuvent être distingués au moins par leurs couleurs; et b) lorsque la région de visualisation est vue à la lumière transmise, d'un côté ou de l'autre du substrat, la région de visualisation est suffisamment transparente pour que le mélange coloré soustractif entre les différentes couleurs en chevauchement produise une seule couleur formée perçue et visible.
