The invention relates to a security element (20) for securing antifalsification papers, valuable documents and the like, comprising a support (22). The security element is characterized in that the support (22) is provided with an authenticity feature (24, 26) which gives a first optical impression in transmitted light and which gives a second optical impression, significantly different from the first optical impression, in incident light and against a defined and easily accessible background.
