A security locking system for installation in a fenestration unit, typically a double hung tilt wash window assembly. The security lock engineered to be insertable into the fenestration unit frame and to secure the unit in the sash during typical use. The security lock system having a tab that can be accessed to place the locking member in a lock disengaged position to permit movement of the unit with respect to the sash or frame. The security lock system of the invention having a simple rocker design free of gears, flexible lengths and consisting of two distinct interacting parts.
