A security system device features a single housing and an alarm sensor and a wireless transmitter carried on the housing. When the alarm sensor is triggered, an event occurrence signal is sent over a wireless network to a remote receiver using the wireless transmitter carried on the housing mounted at the location. The device may be used as a plug-in replacement for an original sensor of an existing monitored security system to provide the system with a new ability to transmit alarm data of a type or to a party other than that for which the original system was setup to transmit or communicate with respectively.
