ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE It is known to coat seeds with compositions containing rhizobia bacteria. The bacteria are susceptible to toxic exudates from the seeds. The present invention seeks to over come this drawback by providing a coated legume seed in which the coating comprises a caseinate salt, together with viable rhizobia bacteria of the desired species.
