Abstract of the Disclosure There is provided a seed dressing composition comprising plant utilisable chromium (e.g. chromium trioxide) and plant utilisable indium (e.g. indium hydroxide), for treatment of corn seeds prior to planting. Treatment of the seeds with such a dressing material affects their receptivity to zinc, so that such treated seeds may be grown in a zinc rich soil and, in the case of certain corn varieties, give enhanced yields or shorter maturation times. The zinc may also be incorporated in the seed dressing composition according to the invention. Alternatively or in addition, it may be applied as fertilizer to the soil prior to planting the seeds therein.
