2134646 9321754 PCTABS00027 A seeding implement assembly (111) for deep banding seed (157) and fertiliser (155) in the ground. The assembly (111) includes a linkage (117) connecting it to a travelling frame (113), a tyne (121), a nose portion (119) and a seed and fertiliser discharge means. The nose (119) is of plate form projecting forwardly from the front of the tyne (121). A deep ripping point (141) is mounted to the bottom of the tyne for deeply ripping the ground. The fertiliser and seed discharge means includes fertiliser tubes (149) which deposit fertiliser directly into the bottom of the incision which is formed by the nose portion and behind the tyne (121) subsequent deep ripping by the point (141). Furrowing means (115) forming part of the seed and fertiliser discharge means are mounted to the rear of the tyne (121) to create a pair of furrows either side of the tyne. Seed tubes (151) deposit seed into the furrows continuously as they are formed and covering means (129) mounted at the rear of the assembly, trail along covering the furrows. The linkage (117) is in the form of an offset parallelogram which enables the tyne to be elevated, whilst substantially maintaining its attitude whilst engaged with the ground, but lessening the ripping effect caused by the point (141) as the point nears the surface of the ground. A seeding method and planting system are also described which are generally characterised by forming a row comprising a single line of fertiliser and two lines of seed within furrows which have a central ridge separating them, disposed above the line of fertiliser.
