-14 - SEGMENTED PLASMA EXCITATION RECOMBINATION LIGHT SOURCE Abstract In generally known segmented plasma excitation and recombination type of light sources, comprising spaced apart metal strips capable of generating a high-density metal-vapor ion plasma when an electrical voltage is applied across the strips, the use of strip materials formerly not usable in such devices is made possible by using strips which are significantly thinner (e.g., 10 times thinner) than previously used.
