SELECTIVE HYDROGENATION PROCESS Abstract of the Disclosure In a process for the selective hydrogenation of unsaturated hydrocarbon components of a feedstock a hydrogenation catalyst is first pre-treated by contact with gaseous ammonia, and thereafter contacted with the feedstock in the presence of hydrogen. The process is found to improve the hydrogenation selectivity of the catalyst, especially in minimizing undesired hydrogenation of aromatic ring compounds.
