A selective leach solution for partial dissolution of geological materials to dissolve oxides and therein-contained metals comprises water, a sugar, and a first enzyme which can act upon the sugar to produce an organic acid and a low concentration of hydrogen peroxide, the concentration of the sugar in the solution being in the range 0.0001% to 20%, and the concentration of the first enzyme in the solution being in the range 0.0001% to 5.0%.
