ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A vehicular speed control system is provided that includes a logic member (12) operative to receive and process a gear ratio position signal (10) and either an engine speed signal (16) or a vehicle speed signal (5) and to provide an output control signal (18) that is operative to limit engine speed whenever certain predetermined forward gear ratios are engaged by an operator of the vehicle.
