ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A method of improving the quality of virgin high yield pulp and pulp made of recycled paper. Pulp is fractionated to produce a first fraction rich in long fibers and a second fraction rich in short fibers. The first fraction only is subjected to ozone whereupon the first and second fractions are recombined to produce paper products.
