A method selectively renders a commu-nication at a receiving communication device. The method includes receiving (202) a communication and determining (204) whether an association exists be-tween the receiving communication device and a source of the communication. If an association does not exist between the receiving communication device and the source of the communication, the method renders (206) the communication at the receiving communication de-vice or distributes the communication to the receiving communication device in order for the communication to be rendered at the receiving communication device. If an association does exist between the receiving com-munication device and the source of the communica-tion, the method prevents (208) the communication from being rendered at the receiving device.
