Laminated safety glass includes a pair of glass sheets (10) bonded together with a self-adhering composite interlayer (11). The composite interlayer (11) is formed of a support layer (12) including a plasticized PVC containing film and a polymeric adhesive layer (13) on one, or preferably both, of the major surfaces of the support layer (12). The adhesive layers (13) are formed of a polymeric material which is capable of adhering to the PVC containing support layer (12) and to the glass sheets (10). The respective refractive indices of the adhesive layers (13) and the support layer (12) are matched as closely as possible in order to eliminate optical distortion caused by interfacial reflections of incident light. A preferred copolymer resin for forming the adhesive layers (13) is poly(vinyl chloride-co-vinyl acetate-co-maleic acid).

Un verre de sécurité feuilleté se compose d'une paire de feuilles de verre (10) réunies par une couche intermédiaire auto-adhésive (11) composite. La couche intermédiaire (11) de matériau composite est formée d'une couche support (12) comprenant un film plastifié en chlorure de polyvinyle (PVC) et une couche adhésive polymère (13) formée sur une des surfaces principales de la couche support (12) ou de préférence les deux. Les couches adhésives (13) sont formées d'un matériau polymère pouvant adhérer à la couche support (12) renfermant du PVC et aux feuilles (10) de verre. On fait correspondre le plus possible les indices de réfraction respectifs des couches adhésives (13) et de la couche support (12) afin d'éliminer la distorsion optique due aux réflexions interfaciales de la lumière incidente. La résine copolymère préférée pour former les couches adhésives (13) est le poly(chlorure de vinyle-acétate de co-vinyle-acide co-maléique).
