ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE In a rotating impeller of a centrifugal pump, a fluid is allowed to leak at angle across the impeller vanes between adjacent internal channels of the impeller, at reduced rates of flow. Such action disturb the homogenous velocity pattern of the fluid inside the channels by causing flow detachment from the trailing surfaces of the impeller vanes and a severe internal circulation of the fluid. This in turn results in reduced pump discharge pressure and a much desirable reduction in energy consumption.
