The invention defines a system for monitoring the brain activity of a human patient under anesthesia in order to determine the patient's level of consciousness. The system uses a plurality of receptors (1, 2, 3) which are mounted in predetermined anatomical positions on the patient's head. The receptors are secured by adhesive foam patches (12). The appliance fits snugly to the head with the aid of a self-adjusting strap (9) that carries imbedded electrical circuitry for the receptors. Electrical connectivity in locations where scalp hair is most likely to be present is improved by the use of braille-tip electrodes (17) fitted with large gel reservoirs.

L'invention concerne un dispositif permettant de contrôler l'activité cérébrale d'un patient sous anesthésie, afin de déterminer le niveau de conscience de ce patient. Le dispositif utilise plusieurs récepteurs (1, 2, 3) montés selon des positions anatomiques préétablies sur la tête du patient. Les récepteurs sont fixés au moyen de pièces adhésives en mousse (12). Le dispositif s'adapte de manière serrée sur la tête, via une sangle de réglage (9) qui comporte le circuit électrique requis pour les récepteurs. La connectivité électrique est améliorée là où la présence de cheveux est la plus probable, grâce à l'utilisation d'électrodes à extrémité de fonctionnement du type braille (17) pourvues de grands réservoirs de gel.
