A steady bearing (10) on a mixer shaft (12) in a vessel supported from the walls of the vessel by a plurality of pairs of parallel struts (96) which are pivotably mounted at their ends in fixed parallel clevises, the inner devises (44) being included in a bearing support subassembly and the outer clevises (84) being included in a plurality of mounting subassemblies (56) attached to the vessel wall. The steady bearing (10) is free to slide axially along the mixer shaft. The inner clevises (44) are mounted on a cylindrical clevis carrier (34) which is attached to the bearing holder only through rings (24, 26) at the top and bottom of the holder, thereby distributing the radial load uniformly over the bearing holder and preventing deformation of the bushing (20). The struts and clevises include cooperating faces which interfere in the event of failure of the pivot pins to arrest a loose strut and prevent it from engaging the mixer impeller.

Un palier fixe (10) sur un axe de malaxeur (12) dans un récipient supporté depuis les parois du récipient par une pluralité de paires d'étrésillons parallèles (96) qui sont montés sur pivot par leurs extrémités dans des étriers parallèles fixes, les étriers internes (44) étant inclus dans un sous-ensemble porte-palier, et les étriers externes (84) étant inclus dans une pluralité de sous-ensembles de montage (56) fixés sur la paroi du récipient. Le palier fixe (10) est libre de coulisser axialement le long de l'axe du malaxeur. Les étriers internes (44) sont montés sur un porte-étrier cylindrique (34) qui est solidaire du porte-palier uniquement au moyen de bagues (24, 26), au sommet et au fond du porte palier. Il en résulte que la charge radiale se distribue uniformément sur le porte-palier, ce qui empêche la déformation de la boîte de glissement (20). Des faces coopérantes des étrésillons et des étriers entrent en conflit lorsque les broches de pivot n'arrivent pas à bloquer un étrésillon détaché et à l'empêcher d'enclencher la lame du malaxeur.
